The product itself is good and looks sturdy and functional. However the assembly process was a pain, not because it’s difficult but the instructions aren’t clear and the items aren’t labeled. Also, they offer two assembly instructions, video or PDF, the video is not in the same order of the PDF, and you cannot zoom enough to identify the item the guy is using.
In the PDF the list of items at the beginning use one name and then the instructions use a different name.
The PDF also skips steps.
Both, the PDF and the video don’t explain how to attach the slow fold strut, so you have to guess it.
There are additional pieces that will use if you buy another attachment but those instructions are also not included so you keep wondering if you miss to put them somewhere. There are also additional wholes that are not been used, too many for my liking, they must have a purpose but surely not for the product I bought.
Great value for both the rack and shed stand. But he instructions need a lot of work.
Kind of just figured out. If you are a bit mechanically savvy should be ok.
Overall pretty happy with the product, end-result met expectations. Very sturdy rack and minimal bouncing of bikes when loaded up.
Packaging of materials was questionable, box was completely destroyed and the local logistics company contacted me to inspect in their depot before delivering. I was worried that I would be missing parts and there was evidence of paint damage to the 'teal' coated parts.
Even with a double degree in Engineering under my belt, the rack and stand took me 3 hours to assemble. Very challenging with the basic instructions. I found that screen capturing an image of a completed setup allowed me to zoom in and understand the required parts. Alas, I was still left with multiple pieces which for the life of me I cant figure out where they go! JB racks, any help would be great!
Prior to purchase I read numerous online reviews. One of the comparison reviews gave the JB rack a very positive rating. Having never built a vertical bike rack before it did take a bit of time to construct. One review claimed it took them 90 minutes. Definitely takes longer than 90 minutes. The written instructions need to be clearer. It is relatively light at 26kg and can be attached to a tow hitch solo. Not a fan of the “teal” colour front tyre rubber straps. The buckle cinch straps for the bottom tyres allow for a secure attachment. Have used it now a few times with both 3 and 4 mountain bikes. No issues. Very stable. All nuts provided were “nyloc” style so shouldn’t rattle loose. The rack is good value for money and does is intended job.
I am stocked with the product and eager to use it. The rack seems stout and well built. The company could improve a lot more on the assembly manual. The box arrived completely broken down and I thought the product was ruined. Luckily they wrapped all parts in bubble wrap and that was enough to save everything. The instruction manual was missing from the box. There was no instruction manual to download for the garage stand but I was able to figure out from pictures. The manual for the bike rack does not contain a detailed part list. The step by step process is far from detailed and you have to flip through videos and pictures in the website to figure out how to put together. Improving the manual would make the company look a lot more professional and help the end user experience.
Now I need to put it to the test and on the road to validate the bike sturdiness.
